On Monday, March 17, Iron City Brewing Company‘s website underwent a dramatic facelift.  With the company recently coming out of bankruptcy, a new corporate web presence was needed.  The site was built using DotNetNuke‘s content management system.  The DNN CMS features vast community support, development and adoption.  The use of the CMS system allows ICB staff to manage content on an immediate notice.

The Iron City Brewing Company website features a couple of unique widgets, the first being the “Get Our Beer” locator.  This locator, powered by Engage, allows consumer to find Iron City products in their local area.  Just put in your zip code or city, state and select a radius and your all set.  The user is presented with a list of all locations near the location specified starting with the nearest location.  The user can then view this location or all returned locations in a nice Google Maps interface.

The second widget is very similar to the Get Our Beer locator.  The ICB promotions/features also uses the Engage powered location.  This widget allows a consumer to find bars and restaurants that serve Iron City products.  As with the Get Our Beer locator, the user is presented with a list of locations nearest his search criteria along with the option of displaying them in a Google Maps interface.

The third widget that will be useful to consumers is the Upcoming Events widget.  This gives the consumer the ability to see special upcoming events that will be sponsored by Iron City Brewing Company.  The widget also promotes these events to the home page for quick viewing.  The home page is limited to the three closest events from the date of viewing.

The fourth widget being implemented is an announcement feature.  This allows ICB to continue informing the viewers of what’s happening inside Iron City Brewing Company.  The viewer can see the most current press releases along with media coverage.  This widget allows for the user to see a brief snapshot of information and then allows them to view an internal webpage, external webpage, or document to get the full information.
