Wings Over Pittsburgh 2008
The Wings Over Pittsburgh 2008 was held May 10-11 this year at the Air Force Reserve Airbase and was open to the general public for free. Each year features many great static displays along with the ever impressive aerial demonstrations for thousands of attending visitors. This year was no exception. The Wings Over Pittsburgh major featured demonstrations for 2008 were the F-22 Raptor and the Canadian Snowbirds.
The Wings Over Pittsburgh for 2008 had numerous static displays for event attendees to get up close and in some cases to get inside. This ranged from entering the belly of a transport plane to getting behind the cockpit. Included this year was an Army Experience exhibit which featured interactive military simulators.
The Wings Over Pittsburgh aerial demonstrations included the Geico Sky Typers, United States Navy F/A-18 Demo Team, United States Navy Corsair Legacy Flight, United States Air Force F-16 Demo Team, United States Air Force F-22 Demo Team, Sean Tucker’s Oracle Challenger, US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, United States Navy’s Leap Frogs Parachute Jump Team, and Canada’s Precision Aerobatic Team Snowbirds.
I was able to take all my aerial photos with the Canon 1D Mark III DSLR using the Canon 100-400L lens. My static display images were taken with the Canon 40D and Tokina 12-24. If you would like to see more images, view my Wings Over Pittsburgh Airshow gallery or on Brant Gajda at Flickr. When you’re done viewing my photos, please come back and share your thoughts.
